tVCA: 808-style transistor 'swing' VCA (2HP) - Gerber and panel files (DIGITAL DOWNLOAD)
IMPORTANT: by purchasing this product it is assumed that you know what to do with the files.
This is my take on the single transistor VCA design that Roland used in the TR808 more years ago than I care to remember. If you want dirty, clashy, percussive-style sounds then this does remarkably well for a circuit which contains a literal handful of components.
The design is very much of its time (ie. few components, so cheap) but it does have a certain charm to it, and if you're into drony, noisy stuff then it's a good additional to the arsenal. Of course, simplicity comes with drawbacks - most obviously that there's some signal bleedthrough even with zero CV. Of course, if you're doing things loud and clashy then this may be a non-issue.
The download includes Gerber and panel files which should be acceptable to most PCB fabricators - just fab as many as you need.
