Beloved of stompbox afficionados and Eurorack DIYers, the PT2399 is a single chip echo processor IC utilizing CMOS technology. Which accept analog audio input signal, a high sample rate ADC transfer the analog signal into a bit stream then storage to internal 44Kbit RAM, after processing the bit stream will de-modulate by DAC and lowpass filter. Overall delay time is determined by internal VCO clock frequency, and user can easy to change the VCO frequency by changing the external resistance.
Whilst there is an 'official' datasheet for the PT2399 (see: http://www.princeton.com.tw/Portals/0/Product/PT2399_1.pdf) to say it lacks information would be something of an understatement. As this is a CMOS-based IC, you need to be aware of the following: first, the absolute maximum supply voltage is 6.5V - it will run quite happily on 5V from a 7805 regulator, though. Secondly, any signal levels above Vcc will distort, often in a rather nasty manner - this may be desirable ... Finally, whilst it's possible to get very long echoes out of a single chip, there is a corresponding reduction in sound quality (again, this may be what you want) - the best way around this is to cascade a number of ICs, and some units offering particularly long echo/delay values do precisely this.
