COVID-19 shipping update
Last update: 23/08/20
Whilst I'm not working at reduced capacity, a lot of the services that I use are, so here's an update as to how things are working:
- Orders are shipped Monday to Friday - currently, my local post office does not open on Saturday and is working reduced hours (9am-3pm) during the week. Cutoff time for same day dispatch on in-stock items is midday. I generally make one trip to the post office mid-afternoon - unless I'm having a day off.
- Tracked airmail services to some parts of the world are subject to some fairly extreme delays (eg. several weeks for the US, and Japan Post isn't accepting international mail at all) - if you want something quickly, consider using DHL instead. It costs more, but you'll get your stuff in a timely manner - 2-3 working days is the norm.
DHL Express orders will ship the following working day - this is due to me having to book a collection, and same-day pickup is insanely expensive. This applies to both worldwide and domestic items.
If you want SMS shipping updates, please include your mobile number with your order. Note that DHL do not deliver weekends or bank holidays.
Because of the situation with Japan Post, orders to Japan are currently DHL only.
- Custom orders are currently CLOSED and are likely to remain so for the forseeable future, as I have my hands full with building regular stock items.
Operating schedules and shipments from fabricators have pretty much returned to normal - this means that for out of stock items, the lead time is generally 2-3 weeks. Similarly, most of my 'usual' component suppliers are shipping orders normally.
